There are an estimated 30 stone circles, 7,000 years older than Stonehenge.

There are carvings of animals, including boars and scorpions.

The builders were hunters.

Bamiyan, Aghanistan

The world's oldest oil paintings have recently been discovered here, dating from the 7th century, has Buddhas and mythical animals.

This was also the site of the Giant buddha statues destroyed by the Taliban.

The locals are Hazaras,said to be escendants of Genghis Khan

Five Wells, Derbyshire, England

Five Wells , located between Bakewell and Buxton is the highest Neolithic monument in England.
Originally it was oval shaped.

Kinder Scout, Derbyshire

Kinder Scout is the highest point in the Peak District national park at 2,088ft
The peat is about 8,000 years old

Hathersage, Derbyshire, England

Charlotte Bronte stayed at the vicarage in 1845.
Hathersage appears in Jane Eyre as `Morton' which as well as Eyre is a local surname.
Grave in churchyard supposedly contains Little John's bones.
Church has views of Derwent valley .
