Norton st Phillip near Bath, Somerset, England

This village was the scene of a battle during Monmouth's Rebellion, which Monmouth's army won.

The George Inn built 1223 and reputedly first licensed in1397 located in the High Street has had such guests such as Samuel Pepys the diarist and the Duke of Monmouth stay there.

Opposite is the Fleur de lys Inn, where Anne of Denmark, wife of James 1 stayed here in 1615.
